audiophile celebrates the release of “lost the plot” at woodlawn theatre
If you’re the kind of person whose music taste jumps from pop-punk to alternative rock and back again, meet Audiophile. They might already be your new favorite band.
The group is heading to Woodlawn Theatre on April 4—just one day after releasing their brand-new album, Lost The Plot! AKA: Birmingham will be one of the first places to hear these songs live.
We caught up with the band to talk about how Audiophile came together, what inspires their sound, and why this upcoming show is going to be a big one.
how would you describe audiophile to a stranger?
Think alternative rock made for pop-punk fans who are a little genre-curious. If you like the energy of pop punk but enjoy when bands experiment a bit, that’s probably right up our alley.
Who shaped your sound?
We grew up listening to bands like Relient K, Paramore, Taking Back Sunday, and My Chemical Romance. Those bands really helped shape how we think about songwriting and energy in a live show.
How did Audiophile come together?
The band actually started as Jared’s project. He released a debut single called Back 2 California, and that’s what caught the attention of Hayden and Lucas. They were working on their own project at the time and decided to merge what they were doing with Jared’s idea.
After releasing a few EPs, they brought in Josh and Logan—friends who had already been helping fill out the live sound. Once work started on their first album, Years Beyond My Wisdom, Josh and eventually Logan joined as full-time members, and the lineup really locked in.
What songs are you most excited to play live right now?
We’ve always loved playing our song “Last Night.” Writing it pushed us outside our comfort zone a bit genre-wise, which made it really fun to perform.
But from the new album, we’re especially excited about a song called “Say Less!”
brand new music to woodlawn stage?
Honestly… a lot of new music. We’re planning to play Lost The Plot front to back, which means a ton of songs that people haven’t heard live yet.
Who are they loving right now?
If we could open for any band it would be Origami Angel. They have been a huge inspiration for us recently. Genre-wise, we feel like we’d fit really well opening for them. As for new artists, there are a lot right now. Some that stand out are JACK, The Deep End, Grace Graber, The Band Silhouette, Hey Thanks., and Jack The Elbow.
Any final words For your fans?
Audiophile looks really different from what I imagined when I started the band at 17. But honestly, I’m much happier with what it turned into. Getting the chance to play these songs live and see people connect with them is the most exciting part—and we’re really pumped to finally share these new songs with everyone.
Catch Audiophile live at Woodlawn Theatre on April 4, and celebrate the release of their new album, Lost The Plot.
