Racoma Hits the Road to Birmingham for the First Time – April 1st at Woodlawn!
Every once in a while, a band comes along that feels like a conversation you didn’t know you needed—honest, layered, and oddly comforting. That’s Racoma, and they’re headed to Woodlawn Theatre for their first-ever Birmingham show on April 1, 2026. (And no, this isn’t an April Fools’ joke—it’s actually happening.)
Who is Racoma?
If you ask them what they sound like, you’ll get a classic musician answer:
“We just try to make music that we enjoy and that’s honest,” says Spencer.
Fair enough—but to help you out a bit: Racoma floats somewhere between indie, alternative, and folk. Think: thoughtful lyrics, warm textures, a healthy dose of harmony and a vibe just right for late-night drives.
They pull inspiration from Radiohead, The Beatles, Big Thief, and Andy Shauf, but each member brings their own flavor to the table. The result is an ever-evolving, emotionally rich sound that stays grounded in the human experience.
A true Seattle story (with pizza and crashed vans)
The band’s origin story is a mix of chance encounters and musical kismet.
“I met Sean at a job when I first moved to Seattle from New Jersey,” says Glenn.
“We became fast friends, started sharing songs, and eventually collaborated.”
A few years (and shows) later, Spencer joined the fold after being spotted in the crowd. He now plays drums, and the rest is Seattle indie history.
And yes, there’s a van crash in this story.
“I crashed a van,” Sean says plainly.
“Yeah,” adds Spencer, “but the hardest thing we did was drive from San Francisco to Portland (12 hours) and play a show the same day.”Not sure what time they left San Fran that morning, but we’re sure they slept well in Portland that night.
Why this tour feels different
The guys don’t spend much time together outside of touring—life, distance, and day jobs keep them spread out. But when they hit the road, it’s a moment to reconnect and catch up on conversations they’ve been missing.
“We all listen to music together in the van,” says Glenn. “It’s how we catch up—on life and on what we’ve been loving lately.”
Also: they’re team snacks, not team junk food. Pistachios, protein bars, chips, and real meals whenever possible.
“We try not to get sick on the road,” Sean laughs. We get it - bands really should be sponsored by Emergen-c and throat coat tea!
What’s coming to the Woodlawn stage?
“We’ll be playing a mix of new and old songs—maybe even a few unreleased ones,” Spencer teases.
They haven’t played in Birmingham before, which makes this show even more special. It's not just a gig—it's an introduction. We’re ready to roll out the welcome mat for them.
Who are they loving right now?
Spencer’s been spinning Foxwarren, Babehoven, and Hemlock. If you haven’t checked them out yet, now’s the time. These guys know good music. Also of note, Babehoven is not to be confused with Babehaven, who played at Woodlawn Theatre in 2025. Babehoven - chill acoustic indie folk. Babehaven - heavy queer punk numetal. One letter makes a big difference.
Any final words For your fans?
“Thank you so much for supporting us through the years,” says Glenn. “We’re incredibly grateful to be able to travel the country and play songs for you. Keep your ears open—we’re working diligently on new tunes.”
